Warre's Otima is a range of aged tawny ports. The 10 Year Old is light and delicate with notes of toffee, honey and dried fruit and is best served slightly chilled.
A very fine Port to be savoured in a reasonable sized glass so that the aromas and colour can be appreciated. Honey and caramel accented by nutty notes. Vibrant and sweet with delicate structure.
This Port is then matured in bottle for at least another 4 years. This prolonged bottle ageing is crucial to the development of the superb “nose” and flavour which lend this Port a style and complexity very much akin to that of Vintage Port. Warre’s LBV is generally acknowledged to be the finest of its type.
Warre’s NV Otima 20 Year Tawny Port is great value in Tawny Port and is well worth seeking out. Offering a touch of Rancio-like sourness in its nutty, salty, fig, caramel, and dried orange aromas and flavors, this beauty hits the palate with tons of sweet fruit, yet always stays balanced, pure, and elegant. It’s would be a great aperitif with almonds or smoked nuts, as well as pair beautifully with any number of desserts.
This is a classic example of aged Tawny Port with deliciously mellow scents of dried fruits, honeysuckle, grilled nuts and butterscotch. On the palate it is rich and smooth yet perfectly balanced, with notes of dried berry fruits, nuts and woody spices.
